Best Central Asia Blog 2007

Over the next month, TOL and neweurasia are accepting submissions for the Best Central Asia Blog Awards. There are several prizes to be won, and the overall winner will get to go to the next Global Voices conference in 2008.
The announcement and submission page (in Russian) is now live at www.neweurasia.net/bestblog.
Over the following weeks, we will try to spread the word about this competition in the Central Asian blogosphere, soliciting as many submissions as possible. The winners will be announced by the jury in mid-January.
The translation of the announcement into English can be read after the jump. If you want to submit a blog, please use the form on the award page.
We are delighted to announce the start of the Best Central Asian Blog 2007 Competition!
Have you been running a blog for some time already? Do you think your blog deserves more attention? Do you want to link up with fellow bloggers from around the world?
If you answer these three questions with a definite ‘yes’, then this is the competition for you! If you can convince our jury that you are running the Best Blog from Central Asia, we will send you to the next annual Global Voices summit, planned for early 2008.
Global Voices is a global “bridge blog” that seeks to aggregate, curate, and amplify the global conversation online, shining light on the places and people that other media often ignore. GV also works to develop tools, institutions and relationships that will help all voices, everywhere, to be heard. Check out their website for more information!
Participation in the competition is not connected to any particular topic. Our jury will make its decision on the basis of:
Prose - Linguistic “flow”, intelligibility, timeliness, transparency, authenticity.
Creativity - Originality of topic, humor, use of new style elements.
Design - Appropriate design, use of multimedia elements (animations, graphics, audio, video).
User Friendliness - Interactivity, usability, linking, commentary functions, etc.
Your blog can be written in Russian, English, Uzbek, Kazakh, Kyrgyz or Tajik. You should speak and understand English to be able to benefit from meeting fellow bloggers at the Global Voices Summit.
In addition to the main prize, we will also award prizes to the best Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan blogs.
Photobloggers: Because it is hard to rate photoblogs directly against those of the written word, there is a special prize for the Best Photoblog from Central Asia. The winner will receive camera equipment worth $250.
The members of the jury include:
Evgeny Morozov, TOL Director of New Media
Bektour Iskender, Founder of Kloop.kg
Adil Nurmakov, Regional Editor Central Asia for Global Voices
Claire Wilkinson, co-founder of neweurasia
Interested? Submit your blog now! The deadline for submissions is the 31st of December 2007. The winners will be announced on the 15th of January 2008!
