As the end of the year approaches, neweurasia and Transitions Online (TOL) are announcing a competition for “Best Central Asian Blogger” of 2011. Contestants will be judged based on the quality of their posts (i.e. their writing style and the impact of their journalism/citizen journalism) and their use of multimedia. Two awards will be granted: one for best written blog and one for best photo or video blog. The two winners will be invited to attend a prestigious 10-day international reporting course in Prague this coming January; tuition and all travel expenses will be covered by the organizers.
First consideration will be given to candidates who are based in either Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan, since these countries are home to Czech embassies and time is short for arranging visas. However, that doesn’t mean we will consider only citizens of these countries or that we won’t consider bloggers who are based in the rest of Central Asia – Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. If you know someone who would be a good contestant, or believe that you yourself would be one, please fill in the form below.
Thanks for all your fantastic contributions! The jury will now take a look at it all and make its final decision within the next week.
