We were driving from Jergetal village to Jalalabad city (south of Kyrgyzstan) at the old soviet car “Volga”. There were 5 adults and 4 children in a car plus a driver. It was a crazy trip, but it was very funny.

Edil Baisalov Appeared
Written by , Thursday, 15 May, 2008 – 6:19 | One Comment

A young politician Edil Baisalov had to leave Kyrgyzstan not long before the parliament elections last year. Officials brought a criminal case against Baisalov when he had posted the photo of the voting-paper in his own blog. Nobody knew about his location since his leaving.

The local Kyrgyz newspaper “Litsa” (“Faces”) has had a chance to take an interview with Mr. Baisalov recently. He told that he was in Sweden now. His wife is taking her doctor’s degree there.

“I am ready to stand and account if I broke the law in any way. I don’t duck out, but an investigation and a court should be absolutely impartial and shouldn’t pursue any political accents”, Baisalov told.

According to Baisalov, “the parliament elections looked like a big and wicked performance”.

“I asserted and I will continue to insist that the Central Electoral Commission broke the Election Codex, when it didn’t print the voting papers on the special protected paper. I have been observing this process myself”, Baisalov said.

Mr. Baisalov also commented some events in Kyrgyzstan.

“I am against the privatization of the energy sector. An energy sector is the backbone of our economic and our idea of the Kyrgyz State system. The statement about our government being a bad owner is a total nonsense”, he considered.

Mr. Baisalov tried to foretell a future situation in Kyrgyzstan.

“A power which suggests to the people the new images and a new political language will win. Our opposition should stop intimidating the authority and should communicate to the people more. An opposition leaders shouldn’t gather a crowd of people to come to power, but must strive for the public opinion”, Baisalov told.

Rahmonov and Bakiev Will Discuss the Boundary Problems
Written by , Wednesday, 14 May, 2008 – 9:55 | No Comment

CA-News reported that on 15th May the President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiev will arrive to Hudjand (the Sogdian region of the north Tajikistan) during his two-day visit.

The main topic of discussion between the president of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiev and the president of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmonov will be the solution of the boundary questions.

Bakiev will also discuss the questions of the development of the trade and economic cooperation and preparation for the SCO summit, which will be held in Dushanbe in August this year.

There are moot points about delimitation and demarcation of the Tajic-Kyrgyz boundary at the district between Sogdian region of Tajikistan and Batken region of Kyrgyzstan. There are always a lot of incidents and glaring contradictions between the frontiersmen at this district.

A last incident was about one and a half month ago. According to the words of the Kyrgyz frontier guards, on 26th march about 150 Tajic citizens provoked to the incident with the Kyrgyz frontier guards. They were trying to damage a dam, because there wasn’t any water for Tajic fields.

Kyrgyzstan: a Slow Time
Written by , Tuesday, 13 May, 2008 – 9:16 | 2 Comments

The May month traditionally comes to Kyrgyzstan with the holiday days. 1st May is the Labor Day, 5th May is the Constitution’s Day and on 9th May Kyrgyzstan celebrates Victory’s day. These day the life of Kyrgyzstan is rather quiet and slow.

On 1st May, the Communist’s party held the short meeting at the Old Square in Bishkek. There were a lot of people who held the portraits of Lenin and the old soviet flags. It was really strange demonstration, because the communists also hung the scarecrow of the president of USA George Bush during the meeting.

Lj-user Lvenks even called [ru] this demonstration as “a parade of the insane”.
