TOL is launching a Distance Journalism Learning course for media professionals and bloggers from Central Asia

tol_logoTransitions Online (TOL), an international publishing and media development organization and trusted partner organization of neweurasia, is offering a distance learning course on covering minorities’ issues.

The course has been developed by TOL  specifically for the region of Central Asia with funding from the National Endowment for Democracy, a private, nonprofit organization created in 1983 to strengthen democratic institutions around the world.

Applications will be accepted from media professionals and citizen journalists from Central Asia. Admission policy is free of charge.

What participants receive:

Participants who have successfully finished the course will be awarded with TOL certificates. Also, they will be offered an opportunity to write for TOL on Central Asia’s issues for remuneration.

Coursework:

All TOL distance-learning courses are integrated into other training activities. Thus, the best participants will receive fully funded places in 2010 Summer School on New Media, organized by TOL in Prague, Czech Republic.

During the course participants will take five theoretical modules. Each module consists of a text on a considered subject, questions on the text, and a practical task  in the form of writing exercises. Throughout the course a trainer answers questions and edits homework. The working language is Russian.

Duration of the distance-learning course is 5 weeks.

How to apply:

Applications are accepted until October 15th, 2009.  Submit your CV and cover letter to Larisa Balanovskaya (balanovskayal@tol.org).

Cover Letter: please provide a 600-word statement of interest explaining why you would like to attend the training.
