Another government’s action or rule was recently set up which led to dissatisfaction among people in Bishkek city due to the upcoming SCO summit. Yesterday along with my friend I went to the nearest “Narodny”, a chain of supermarkets. Well, cold beer helps to cope with a hot weather. Surprisingly, we did not find any beer… We were told that the new regulation prohibits selling alcohol drinks during the summit in all central supermarkets, shops and “kiosks”. Can you imagine what we felt?
Anyways, authorities claim that prohibition of alcohol drinks will ensure public security during the summit and will prevent the crime. I am sure that those who really want to have some alcohol will definitely find it, no matter how far they would have to go for it. As I said, it is prohibited only in the centre, while shops in other places will still sell alcohol. This, of course, will lead to a price increase for alcohol drinks. And for some, it is a good way to start short-term business…
Moreover, militia really recommends owners of the restaurant and cafes to close them from 14th till 20th August. Sober population, huh?
