Ballet as a way of life…

On February 4 the evening in memory of People’s Artist of the USSR Cholponbek Bazarbaev was held at the Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Maldybaev in Bishkek.

Cholponbek Bazarbaev is an outstanding dancer and actor of the Kyrgyz Opera and Ballet Theater, who for more than 20 years was the premier of the national ballet troupe. For the years of his creative activity this outstanding for the art of the Soviet Union and Kyrgyzstan personality has embodied more than 30 leading roles in performances of the world classical ballet.

The whole creative life of Cholponbek Bazarbaev was associated with the Kyrgyz National Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Maldybaev. He gave about 25 years to a dance – was a soloist of the theater, and then – its CEO.

Cholponbek Bazarbaev, whose life ended tragically in 2002 in a car accident, would be 65 years old this year. In tribute to the memory of the great dancer was organized a concert with the participation of ballet artists of the Kyrgyz National Academic Theater of Opera and Balled named after A. Maldybaev and students of Bishkek Art School named after Ch. Bazarbaev.

Memorial evening was started with the speeches of friends and colleagues of the artist. There was also shown a short film about the creative activity of Bazarbaev.

Such beautiful works as “The Seventh Waltz”, “The First Teacher”, adagio from the ballet “Giselle”, polonaise from “Swan Lake”, and many others were shown at the concert.
