Yesterday at the “Ilkhom” theater was held the presentation of the first album of the Uzbek ethno-jazz band Jazzirama.

Ambitious experimental band which was created by young jazzmen, decided to develop the idea of ethno-jazz, creating their own and traditional Uzbek melodies on wide canvas of free-jazz.

Jazzirama project was created in 2011 by known Uzbek musicians: Saidmurat Muratov (sax) and Sandjar Nafikov (piano). Recording of their first LP was financially supported by the Swiss Cooperation Office.

Jazzirama aims to popularize the Uzbek folk music using fusion with jazz, avant-garde and other contemporary styles.

You can learn more about this group on their Facebook page, and we have prepared a small video-cut of 3 their songs from the last concert for you, as well as a photo gallery.
