Graphic exhibition “The Tribe of Wolves”
On November, 1 the personal exhibition of the young artist Djum “The Tribe of Wolves” was opened at the Oak Park Exhibition Center in Bishkek.
Graphic works presented at the exhibition are devoted to the nomadic peoples who many years ago lived on the Kyrgyz land. A talented author of brave and unusual paintings works under the pseudonym of “Djum”. According to the artist, he took a name of the exhibition, “The Tribe of Wolves”, from antiquity: the nomadic Turkic people extolled the Wolf as a totemic deity.
The young artist, who graduated from the Kyrgyz State Art School named after S. Chuikov, decided not to give names to his works.
“Visitors of the exhibition can invent their own story, come up with a whole world based on what they see, and give their own name to the painting”, – Djum says.
Works of the artist in fact provide a huge scope for imagination. The images are distinguished by their expressiveness and recalcitrance. Although Djum made his paintings in an unusual style of caricature, they carry a militant, aggressive spirit of the era when there was active resistance to different tribes and nations of Central Asia.
