17The 54th day of the Gregorian calendar is a wonderful holiday, Defender of the Fatherland Day! It started in 1922 as Red Army and Navy Day, and from 1949 to 1993 was celebrated as Soviet Army and Navy Day. Since the break-up of the Soviet Union, it has been observed in many countries as Men’s Day.

On this occasion, the staff at neweurasia.net wholeheartedly congratulates all men, and wishes them success at work, warmth and happiness in the home, peace of mind and joy in their eyes! Take good care of your loved ones!

Since Kazakhstan moved its Defender of the Fatherland Day to 7 May, men have had two causes for celebration: many continue to celebrate on February 23 out of habit, and again on 7 May.
