The main building of Tajik State Medical University which graduates all of the doctors in the country is totally burned. This tragedy happened today in the afternoon. The main building of the university started burning at around 2 p.m. and firefighters could not put out the fire. The whole building with all its libraries, laboratories, archives and equipment was burning and no one could do anything. This is terrible. As usual, the fire safety was not observed. Earlier Regnum reported:

The fire trucks can not come closer to the burning building because of the metal fence and the firefighters can not reach the fire.

Because of the fence the work of 11 teams of firefighters was in vain.

Well, the Asia Plus reports they saved the library http://www.asiaplus.tj/en/news/38/26296.html
But I know that there wasn’t water to put the blaze out: no fireplugs, not facilities on the firefighter cars… The water bearers drove to and from the President’s palace to bring water… terrible

But such announcements that it is impossible to reconstruct are more damaging, if they are not going to reconstruct, then what are they going to do with this? it has historical value and removing it from the surface is crime

Sabina, it’s true that the archive and the library was saved. It was a good news for all of us. I hope this university will be restored by the start of new academic year.

I spent there about 7 years and obtained my bachelor degree.
What a terrible news! It is difficult for me to believe.
First time, I was shocked when 2 of my favourite teachers of Tajik Medical University were shot to death. Now, I am shocked again.

Dear Vadim, if you have any further news, please update.

it was a temple of learning for me as this university imbibed in me value of education. The mere sight of it being gutted was shocking as this meant the place of learning turned into ashes for medical students.

I graduated this University in june 2000,It’s very sad to see my University getting gutted in the fire. How come firefighters couldn’t do anything.I feel there is a conspiracy behind it and some official enquiry should be made into it to get the culprits .I loved it very much.Today I am a successfull doctor all because of this university.

    Dear Dr,Mir Manzoor
    Asalamualikum!!
We both graduated in the same year and were in the same group.Indeed it’s very heartrending to see your University getting gutted.Remember how all of us used to hang around this university during PERERIV,Eating Pirashki etc .Indeed its a high time to reconstruct this university in a modern way.We should try to help them by offering financial support as much as possible.
