One world… We will never have another one

International Festival of Documentary Films on human rights Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan-2013 is taking place in Bishkek. The event is held in Kyrgyzstan for the seventh time. Every year it covers the problems of people in different countries through the short documentaries.

“Bir duino” is translated from Kyrgyz language as “One world”. And the slogan of the event is “One world.. We do not have another one and we will never have it.” These are the words of the Czech writer and human rights activist, Václav Havel, who is also the first President of the Czech Republic.

On September 18 this year, the grand opening of the Festival was held in one of the cinema theaters of Bishkek. Prominent human rights activists, local and foreign filmmakers and documentary makers, the Mayor of Bishkek Isa Omurkulov, and popular Kyrgyz artists visited the ceremony.

This year, the competition program of the International Film Festival Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan consists of 34 films from 14 countries. Each of them is aimed to cover the acute social problems in different countries of the world. Traditionally, there is discussion with the audience after watching each film.

International Festival of Documentary Films Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan-2013 will run in the capital of Kyrgyzstan until September 24. Program of movies for the next few days is available below. All screenings of documentary films are held in Manas cinema in Bishkek.
