Second-Life Astana

The Kazakh segment of Internet has burst with an ambitious project – Second Astana. As reported by Cnews, the “building” of a second Astana online is a sep towards promotion of the brand called “Republic of Kazakhstan” in the world.
The Astana city administration has almost completed creation of the capital’s 3D model on Google Earth. But social service Second Astana is something more, the first spots (central block of the left-bank Astana from Bayterek to the Pyramid) of the Kazakh land in the popular virtual world of Second Life, with which the developers seem to be in the process of establishing cooperation.
On the other hand, the project may take its place in the state concept of digital development and the government’s efforts of improving the country’s image. The developers say it was their own project – not the official one – and plan to expand the SL area on Almaty, Turkestan and Borovoe – the major tourist destinations in Kazakhstan.
