Translation of publicist’s post (RUS)

Almaty is the city of apples – a metaphor that was once a reality, in my childhood. As an inhabitant of the city who loves the sight and smell of these trees in the spring, I was always disappointed to read articles in the press about how yet another apple orchard was sold to a housing developer.

But this, it seems, is the price you pay in the age of the market, when every law has a loophole. My soul rejoices when I see these springtime photographs, which appear in blogs every year, and I wonder, how many orchards are still left? How many haven’t they chopped down yet?
