Danny Icecream, who participated in the “EduCamp Almaty 2009 – New Media Weekend” forum, writes:

On November 14-15, I took part in EduCamp Almaty 2009 - New Media Weekend, a series of workshops dedicated to new media, held at KIMEP.

The training sessions were well-organized, with two groups working simultaneously, allowing participants to prioritize tasks. They featured well-known, as well as not-so-well-known but skillful, presenters. We received a lot of useful information about new internet projects, and learned about other possibilities provided by existing technology.

FAQs for writing articles were available for noobs, bloggers and professional monsters of the press. The workshop on controlling speech (Is a given material worth publishing? Does the journalist have the right? What is the best way to achieve the necessary result?) was more of a lecture, but it will definitely reduce the superfluous journalistic output of those present.

A big thank-you goes out to Yelena Jetpyspaeva and Inessa Shlapak, who organized the event. They did everything well and everyone was satisfied.
