As I am from Berlin (which is, to my knowledge, still without a proper Uzbek restaurant) and have lived some years in London (where there is at least Shish, a Central Asian eatery), news like this is very relevant: It demonstrates how Eastern Europe is slowly overtaking the West in terms of culinary variety.

The Budapest Times runs a story about the Uzbek restaurant Bukhara Bár:

Traveling to the city of Bukhara in Uzbekistan is not the easiest of trips. The opportunity to taste genuine Uzbek cuisine, however, requires only a trip to Budapest’s 2nd district.

The Bukhara Bár also has a fancy website:

At our restaurant you can taste the Uzbek national meal, the plov, the lagma, the stuffed quail, the lepjoska baked in the Uzbek oven called tandir, the samsa with various fillings, and of course the shashlik roasted on embers.

So this really is a post for our doubtlessly numerous readers from Hungary. Well actually, in order to convince its readers of the virtues of Uzbek cuisine, the Budapest Times also embedded a YouTube video. If you’re hungry, this might just be the right clip to watch!
