There have been a few reports of violence going on in Western Uzbekistan near the Kyrgyz border - especially with the bombings last month. We met a few travelers who were going to Eastern Uzbekistan and several who came from Kyrgyzstan. The border crossing was shut down shortly afterward, but there have been recent reports of increasing violence towards travelers in Kyrgyzstan - this is of course - word of mouth only at this point. Heard of anything like this?
