"Well who cares… his presidency has already expired in January 2007 and does he really need campaigning and election just RULE."

That's what I think as well. Juridical procedures, formalities etc. just do not stick in thsi part of the world and especially not among people like the karimovites and the likes.

We all know that the only way he, his sociopathic daughter and their cronies will get out insha'Allah is this one:

To be sarcastical - indeed.
5 years as the First Secretary of Communist Party of Uzbekistan, plus 16 years as the President of independent Uzbekistan, which makes 21 years as of today. Add up another 7 years at least, that would make..ehm.. 28 years? Indeed, it seems nobody cares.
Besides, strong "winds" have been coming from the neighbouring Kazakhstan lately, but whether of the "change", we shall soon see.

I don't understand why people are so concerned about Karimov's campaigning and stating his position and so on. Well who cares... his presidency has already expired in January 2007 and does he really need campaigning and election just RULE.

I also heard from someone that the hokim of the Bukhara region was arrested. Another fun fact that I heard is that for the few hours that Karimov was in town cell phone service for the city (all or part of it, I don't know) was shut-off. Sounds like he's getting pretty paranoid about being attacked.
