Diapazon.kz reports:

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Gulshara Abdukalikova, reports that fraud committed by oralmans (Kazakh repatriates) has been “suppressed”.

There are media reports that several thousand oralmans do not exist but that this remains unchecked by the government. However, Abdukalikova admits that 300 million tenge have been lost to fraud and that of this, 15 million has been returned. she adds that most of the fraud has occurred in Kostanai, Zhambyl, Akmola.

More stringent methods will be used to confirm genuine oralmans, she says.

Since 1991, Kazakhstan has followed a policy of re-settling Kazakhs who live abroad. This includes providing state aid and money to the repatriates.

In 2009-2011, Kazakhstan, in the framework of the state program Nurly kosh, scheduled to take on 60 thousand families of Oralmans, that is, 20 thousand families each year.

Our country has already absorbed about 700 thousand oralmans, most of them from China. There have been problems with integration, since many are unemployed and are ignorant of Russian. Appeals to local authorities are reportedly futile.
