Is Osh quieting down?

According to AKIpress, order may be restored in Osh. At the moment, we’re not able to get feedback from our team in the city since we’re still having difficulty contacting them. Our prayers are with them and everyone in the city, as well as Jalalabad, which is still experiencing violence.
neweurasia‘s Mirsulzhan has posted more videos of the destruction in Osh; it’s all very disheartening. Meanwhile, the Registan‘s Michael Hancock gives his assessment of the situation:
I don’t want to jump on any optimistic story, but some of the level heads in Osh are trying to restore order themselves. I hesitate to upgrade this ethnic tension to the kind seen in Balkans or even in the American South. I think there are other causes simmering below the surface, and other then those now seeking vengeance for these actions, I would not say that “Uzbeks hate Kyrgyz,” or vice versa. Maybe mild distrust, maybe stupid stereotypes, but there are plenty of inter-marriages and successful friendships across this division to prove that we shouldn’t make this out to be an inevitable expression of deep-seated ethnic hatred.

Yesterday’s Aksakal council in Yuzhniy had some positive outcomes- although no Kyrgyz youth were present. Today, the city is for the most part quiet- people are out on the street trying to get food. Ethnic militias are holding certain neighborhoods and only letting ambulances and army through- NOT private citicens OR militsia.
