This week (August 15 and 16) our nation is getting preparations to participate in traditional Khashar, the event when every citizen has to participate in social works (sweeping the streets, elevation of the territories, etc.) for free. Additionally, citizens have to make a charitable contribution.

Organizers in local mahallas say that the money contributed by people will go for the “Mahalla” foundation.

The last time Khashar took place right before Navruz holiday this year and the same “money donations” flew to the foundation’s bank account. It seems that it’s time to fill up the foundation’s “treasury”; and the actvity of the foundation is not transparent enough and give rises to unfavourable criticism by many citizen who donor to it.

For example, people are sure their money go not to the elevation of the cities and lone and sick citizens but to rising the level of the administration representatives’ well-being. All these pitiful tea-drinkings infront of poor tables for old men and women and presentations of modest bags of rice to the poor will be aired many times by the Uzbek TV… So-called care of the state of its citizen…
