One of the rare animals- snow leopards are habitants of mountains in Kyrgyzstan. However, due to poaching and other negative actions of people, animals endanger. Nevertheless, snow leopards are known as peak of the food chain hierarchy in Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, to attract more attention to this problem, on 10th July there will be opening of eco-project, which main part will be photo-exhibition. Its main target is to attract people’s attention to the problem of saving some rare animals and promote concern for nature. Furthermore, there hasn’t been any alike environmental action in the country before.

Today, on the 10th of July , the eco-project “In the wake of snow leopard” has been started in the National Museum of Art named after Gapar Aytiev in Bishkek. Main target of the project was to attract people’s attention to the problem of saving some rare animals and promote concern for nature. The exposition will last until 20th of July.

There was no alike environmental action in Kyrgyzstan before. The event consisted of various parts, related to the topic of snow leopard. There were photo-exposition, demonstration of illustrations, showing of movie and interactive playing for children.

Photo-exhibition was the main part of the event. It composed of more than 100 photographs made by members of photojournalists’ union of Kyrgyzstan. One of them, Vlad Ushakov mentioned, “Snow leopard stays on the highest level of the food chain hierarchy in our country. This is why it is vital to save them. Therefore we plan to continue the eco-project in other regions of the country.”

Moreover, exhibition included illustrations on some environmental topics made by artist Ruslan Valitov and illustrations of snow leopard made by children. During the event people could take a part in some interactive games or get face art in leopard style.

After opening ceremony there were showing of movie “Descendant of snow leopard”, directed by Tolmush Okeev in 1984.

People, who organized the event claimed, that all of us can contribute to the problem of saving snow leopard. “One of the valuable things most of people can do is to retain habitat of snow leopard in normal condition, by keeping it tidy,”- one of the sponsors said.
