A press conference on upcoming Dushanbe Ethno-Jazz Festival took place on 28th of May at Tajik National Conservatory.
Dushanbe Ethno-Jazz Festival will be held on May 15, 16, 17 and 18th, 2014. The Festival invariably attracts the attention of Jazz music fans in Tajikistan as well as in many other countries.
During four days Jazz fans and participating musicians will benefit from the unique opportunity to enjoy the biggest live music event in Dushanbe. The Festival program includes master-classes, gala concerts, a jam session as well as a conference.
Ethno-Jazz is the main focus of the Festival, as it helps to preserve the musical heritage through the modern interpretations of Jazz music. To ensure a more substantial connection to the Tajik musical legacy, the organizers invite the bands to interpret the famous song “Bikhandad Lola”created by F. Soliev.
Dushanbe Ethno-Jazz Festival traditionally offers a rare opportunity for an intense intercultural dialog and expression of national self-identification, bringing Tajik musicians and those from Central Asia and other regions together. As a continuation of this tradition, for the fourth time already the Festival welcomes guests from Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russian Federation, France, Austria, U.S.A. and Germany.
Among famous masters from Tajikistan are “Avesto” and “Mizrob”. They will share the stage with “Dadjsh” and “Paivand” who already have an extensive experience in participating at the festival. There will also be debutants, such as “Orzu” and “Bakht” from Dushanbe, “Eskhata” From Khujand, “Charkh” from Khorog and a well-known blues band called “Up the Line” from Dushanbe.
The opening ceremony will be held on May 15 at 6 p.m. in “Kokhi Jomi” concert hall. The second gala-concert will take place on May 16th at 6 p.m. at the same venue. The Tajik National Conservatory named after T. Sattorov hosts the morning master-classes and the gala concert on May 17, at 5 p.m. On May 18, at 5 p.m. the garden of Serena Dushanbe Hotel will accommodate the Festival jam-session devoted to the “World Music Day” in cooperation with the Embassy of France to Tajikistan.
In order to promote Dushanbe Ethno-Jazz Festival among foreign readers, the organisers invited Mr. Grigory Durnovo, a columnist of influential Moscow jazz magazine “Dzhaz.ru”, who will also be the host of the Festival.
The Festival is initiated by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan, Festival’s main donor, and organized by Bactria Cultural Centre and the Tajik National Conservatory named after T. Sattorov.
