The Organizers of the Central Asian visual arts competition the “Exit Permit” are happy to announce the winners!

A jury has selected the best visual works corresponding to the contest’s topic – migration.

Awards in two categories are going to Uzbekistan!

The winner in the category “Video” is Olga Fedina from Tashkent. Her video entitled “Not live on Bread Alone” was the best in this category.

The winner in the category “Photography” is Relisa Granovskaya also from Tashkent.

Unfortunately, eventhough the contest’s deadline was extended, a winner in the category “Painting” could not be determined.

The two winners are awarded 200 EUR each, and their works, as well as interviews with them will be published on NewEurasia.net until 25 July 2014.

“Exit Permit”, a competition in visual arts, was organized by Transitions Online, an English-language magazine covering Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, and by NewEurasia, Central Asia’s first and largest citizen-journalism network.

The competition was open to painters, photographers, and videographers aged 35 or under from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan.  The deadline was 9 May 2014 originally, it was later extended to 14 July 2014.
